Chad lost his sight to Retinitis Pigmentosa at the age of 35. While losing his sight he completed his Doctorate in Counselor Education. Along with his wife, Patricia of 25 years, they worked together in private practice serving children and their families with all types of disabilities.
He is the 2016, 2017 and 2018 United States National Blind Golf Champion. He also won the Irish Blind Golf Open in 2017, the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic (setting an all-time scoring record) in 2018, and he placed 2nd in the World Blind Golf Championship in 2018.
Chad and his wife started a 501-C3 organization called AVID which stands for A Vision in Darkness. The current mission of the organization is to bring the therapeutic power of golf to blind and visually impaired young students and veterans who wish to learn the game of golf.
